St. Patrick's Day
Our annual St. Patrick's Luncheon was held on March 14th. We were joined by author Rose Castillo Guilbault (Farmworker's Daughter: Growing up Mexican in America) as our guest speaker. Rose told the audience, “I remember falling in love with the library when I was 8 years old. In second grade, it was a rite of passage for the entire class to go to the library wand obtain our first library card. I was so proud to possess that library card.” The lunch raised over $7500 to provide three “fund the need” items requested by library staff.
2017's Biggest Book Sale!
DCPLA hosted their first ever book sale spanning two weekends in May. We were fortunate to be able to use space donated by Kimco at the 280 Metro Center in Colma. Elementary school children entered a poster contest demonstrating “To me, my library is…” Their artwork decorated the walls for all to witness the importance of libraries to our families. DCPLA raised $5000 for the libraries from the book sale.

Good company, good food, and a good cause – what better way could we find to fundraise for DCPLA? Moonstar Buffet graciously hosted a fundraiser titled #LoveLibraries where members of our community, friends, and family enjoyed delicious food and drinks. DCPLA raised $2600 through this wonderful event.
